Steve Scott was born in Oakland, Calif., and grew up in Broken Bow, NE. In 1980, he received an Associate of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Chadron State College. He started his career in law enforcement as a jailer for Dawes County Sheriff's Office and as a security officer for Campus Security at Chadron State College. He became a patrol officer for Broken Bow Police Department in October of 1980. Later, he was promoted to Sergeant and then to Chief of Police in April 2005. He and his wife, Connie, have been married for 25 years. They have one son who is attending college at Chapman University in Orange, Calif., and two grown daughters who are married with children.
